La mwcqsusina è il frutto di alcune specie di mwcgPrunus subg. Prunus. In botanica viene anche indicata come mwdaprugna, termine preferito a "susina" quando è mwdqessiccata.cite-ref-tr-1-0[1]

Le susine sono un gruppo eterogeneo di specie: una volta potate, raggiungono un'altezza di 5–6 metri.cite-ref-2[2] Il frutto è una mwgqdrupa, dalla polpa soda e succosa. Le susine possono essere consumate fresche, essiccate (in tal caso sono meglio conosciute come prugne),cite-ref-tr-1-1[1] utilizzate per produrre delle confetture o mwhgfermentate nel mwhwvino e distillate nel mwiabrandy.cite-ref-3[3]cite-ref-4[4] I semi contengono un veleno simile al mwkqcianuro, ovvero l'mwkgamigdalina, un mwkwglicoside cianogenico.cite-ref-5[5]

È probabile che le susine furono tra i primi frutti coltivati dall'uomo. Sono originarie dell'mwmgEuropa orientale, delle montagne del mwmwCaucaso e della mwnaCina.cite-ref-6[6]cite-ref-7[7]
